The Verdict: I love it! The color and shape work nicely into the rest of my wardrobe, the sleeves add a bit of luxe, and the silk material is divine. I was worried about laundering it--it says Dry Clean Only, which is do-able but not ideal--but after doing some research I think I will be able to handwash it in lukewarm water with baby shampoo and it will be fine. My only concern is how it will wear and if it would be able to travel. However, I scored it for $15 at Plato's Closet and paid for it with a gift card I have been holding for ages, so it was (basically) free! For that, I won't feel too bad using it as a 'test run' everyday wear silk shirt.

This is also replacing two similar shirts that I had previously but in cotton. For some reason, I was under the impression that I wore them frequently, but looking back through my blog I can only find one entry when I wore one of them! You can barely see it, but I wore it when I was showing off the suede Coach bag I won from 365 Fashion Rehab's no-shop challenge. I had two of these shirts--teal, loose-fitting, cotton. I guess they were the type of shirt that I would pull out, think about wearing, and ultimately put them back. I certainly hope that is not the case with this lovely silk shirt!

Do you guys have any tips for silk clothing? Have you handwashed any silk items, and did it turn out well (or not so well)?

Have you ever had any items of clothing that you thought you wore all the time, but it turns out you didn't? (am I the only person this has happened to? See, this is why I like having a blog--it helps support my failing memory!)

Orange You Glad I'm Mad For Plaid?

It's hot out today, and as it's probably one of the last days of summer I decided to pull out all the stops and wear my UBER summer dress!

I am officially on my break between my two jobs! Retail job=over and school job=upcoming! To celebrate I...ran errands, babysat for a friend, and worked my other job. Sad, but true! Today was a scorcher, and I was biking, so I opted for a breezy skirt and a crisp button down (also for the yes-I-CAN-responsibly-care-for-your-children look). This skirt was recently on the chopping block in my latest closet purge, but I'm glad I kept it. It's not for every occasion, but it's a bit out of the ordinary and I enjoy it, and that's what matters, right?

So in the spirit of full confession, I bought a nail polish while I'm supposed to be on a No-Buy. In my defense...it was a beautiful OPI on half price? I have no defense. *hangs head in shame* But I don't feel too bad about it. The point of this No-Buy was to assess what I have, clothing-wise, and not spend a lot of money while I am between jobs, and I think that has been successful.















This does not fully demonstrate the awesomeness of this color. It is an antiqued gold shade, with soft magenta and green sparkle, and the important thing? It looks great on me!

To make a sarong story short...

Today is quite warm, with nothing better than throwing on a sarong and a breezy white top for a day of running around!

I *did* ask for hot weather...

On a recent three day trip for a wedding, I just wore variations of the same outfit--my striped breezy shorts (so much cooler than jean shorts, which tend to trap heat--as cute as they can be!) and a loose fitting shirt. Definitely abandoning the waistline for this trip, as well as for my upcoming week-long trip which will be even hotter and more humid, but the different silhouette is fun to play with. I *did* find that these cotton-type non-stretch shirts tend to wrinkle like crazy, but I will take wrinkles and comfort any day.
